Music Choices for Studying
What Type of Music Can Help You Study
Studying can be difficult and isolating. However, certain types of music can fill the space as well as keep you focused. Music can be a great way for some students to study for their tests, exams, or their finals. Here is the list of the type of music that can help you focus, as well as keep you going.
The Classic- Classical
Classical music such as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, to name a few, are great composers to listen to if you struggle to keep your focus. Science even says so. Classical music does not have any lyrics that can distract you and the melodies can help keep you calm while the gears in your brain turn as the information is going into your head. Therefore, you can go on to YouTube and find long tracks of classical music to keep you in the study zone.
Soft Piano
Another type of lyricless music is a gentle piano. Pianos are a stable of many classical pieces, and they can play a range of different genres of songs. However, gentle, classic-like music can help you relax while you study. The last thing you want to be is tense since this will not help the knowledge get into or stay in your head.
Jazz- Smooth Jazz
Smooth Jazz is also a great genre of music that can help many students study. It is relaxing, fills the space without overpowering it, and can keep you in the mood to study. Smooth Jazz is a bit more modern than the previously mentioned genres. It is for those that want a more modern twist to listen to without lyrics to distract them.
Folk or Indie Music
While some people can get distracted by lyrics others do not. And if you are one of the latter, then why not try listening to some folk or indie music to get through your studies. The songs are relaxing, pleasant and the lyrics are not too much that they can bring you out of your studying world.
Another type of music that is similar to this is soft rock. Here there is a lot of guitar and drums to keep you going. Although not as many lyrics or any at all. But, both genres can be great for those students that are rockers at heart to study too.
Hip-Hop- Low Fi Hip Hop Live
If you have been on YouTube in recent years then you may have come across this channel, Lofi Girl with their Low Fi Hip Hop Live stream. Or at least you have seen the thumbnail of the anime-looking school girl sitting at her desk. This is a live stream of chilled hip-hop music without lyrics that plays all day, every day. Plus, there is a live chat in case you want some advice or to know that you are not alone. Although, we would suggest that you just let the beats play in the background, and ignore the chat.
Ambient Music
Now if music genres do not do it for you, then you can try some ambient music. This type of music is designed to be in the background with the idea that it keeps you company without you noticing it. There are different types such as ambient space-themed music, or nighttime driving ambient music. This can be something new that could work for you.
Silence
This is not a type of music. But, sometimes the absence of music can work better for some people. Some can get distracted by having music play; they either start listening to it, stopping them from studying. Or, it just gets to them in a way that they cannot explain.
However…
We have only given you some of the more popular options when it comes to study music. And all of these you can find on YouTube. But, music is subjective, and if you find something that works for you outside of this list stick to it. And good luck with your tests, exams, and finals.
